This week I took a jaunt to New York City for work and as I always do when I go back, I had a fabulous time. Here are a few highlights of the trip:
I saw Sex and the City 2 and then attended a press conference with the cast at Bergdof Goodman.
I went to one of my favorite lunch spots, Risotteria, where I had gluten free beer and pizza. Then my friend and I walked to the Marc Jacobs accessories store in the West Village and then meandered through the Meatpacking District and over to the Union Square dog park so I could run around with my buddies. The dog parks in New York make me sooo happy. I give the dogs imaginary voices and dialogue (yah I know I’m bound for crazytown).
The next night I hit my favorite restaurant, Pastis, which never fails to please me. We sat outside since it was a balmy spring evening and sipped on Sancerre and noshed on moules frites.
I should mention my hotel, which just opened a month ago, the Trump Soho. It’s on the western edge of Soho, a neighborhood known for factories that were replaced by artists and lofts in the ’80s. It lacks the typical Trump ostentation and the Donald let daughter Ivanka have an integral part in the design direction. Also, the hotel partnered with Fendi Casa for much of the room decor that includes mohair end-of-bed benches and leather headboards. And the bathroom is one of the sexiest I’ve ever stayed in. The view from the bath is of the Empire State Building.
Sarah and I, both Gossip Girl fans, popped to the Gilt Bar in the Palace Hotel. And it’s exactly as it appears in seasons one and two when it’s Serena, Chuck and co’s main hangout. (Sarah and I had sauvignon blanc and truffle fries hmmmm.) GG fans should stop in to check it out.
Other highlights included events at Make Up For Ever and Nars, the Makeup Show (where I met with makeup artists and beauty companies), a manicure at Bliss, wine and cheese at new East Village quiet hotspot, Le Terroir. I’m returning to L.A. feeling exhausted but also energized from this effervescent city.
