Beauty in the Blog

I am positively under the dark and beautiful spell of Mary Forsberg Weiland, ex-wife of controversial rockstar Scott Weiland of the Stone Temple Pilots. “Fall to Pieces (Harper Collins, 2009),” a memoir by Mary– a stunning ex-model– is bracingly candid, beautifully written, terribly haunting and frustrating, but lined with that essential human emotion; hope. For anyone with an interest in what lies beneath the glittering surface of rockstardom, anyone who has ever known an addict, been an addict, or struggled with depression or mental illness, I highly recommend “Fall to Pieces.”

Say what you will about Christina Aguilera’s new’s record Bionic, or the fact that she’s cancelled her summer tour– she was phenomenal on Idol’s Finale last night. Way more interesting, in our opinion, than the finalists. She sang “You Lost Me,” and she had us mesmerized.
Music and Charity: Get Your Tickets Now
Thursday, May 13th, 2010
I just heard about an amazing event coming up that combines two of my passions: music and charity. The event is an Evening with Grammy Legends Jimmy Webb and Thelma Houston, held at the Grammy Museum in L.A. For the first time in 40 years, these two celebrated artists will perform together! (For those of you who aren’t familiar with these artists, read up on their amazing contributions to music—read about Jimmy here and Thelma here.)
The best part of this event is that all proceeds from the evening support MacArthur Park, a venue for free music and performing arts that has held 130 concerts with more than 85,000 people in attendance! The venue serves to reach audiences that may otherwise not get to partake in amazing music.
The event, produced by the Friends of Levitt foundation is producing the event, which takes place Friday, May 21 and will include a reception by Wolfgang Puck, 90 minutes of performances by the stars and a dessert reception following.
If you’re looking for a glamorous night out, where you can see two legends on stage at a beautiful venue AND feel good about supporting an amazing organization, then I highly suggest you grab a ticket while you can!

Justin Bieber Plagues Twitter
Wednesday, March 10th, 2010By Jenna
There has been this little thing plaguing our Twitter life for Blush. It’s like a scratch on the left lower corner of your sunglasses. It’s not going away and you’ve done a great job ignoring it without really acknowledging the problem. That scratch would be the adorable Justin Drew Beiber. For whatever reason, Justin Bieber is the trending topic EVERYDAY of EVERY MONTH this year on Twitter. Maybe I’m getting old, but I thought we were over these rapper infants after Aaron Carter. So, 3 year olds cry over him, he causes teen riots and tons of rappers love him so that gives him street cred? Although it is impressive that he managed to self-teach himself how to play the piano, drums, trumpet and guitar at a young age, so I’ll give the little guy that. I’m still a little confused, after hearing soo much hype about him, I had never heard any of his music – weird, when someone is a megastar you don’t seem to miss their music. One lovely day, on the radio I finally heard it. It was like a ghost train screeching to a halt. And I thought it was J.Lo singing. Can someone please explain this fascination? And why is every fetus in Hollywood now a child star?
Each generation has their child pop star idols, who was yours?
