Apparently the Blush blog has turned into quite the movie site…but how could we not share the Remember Me trailer? Hello, our boy Robert Pattinson finally gets to prove his chops as not Edward Cullen! In this romantic drama, that hits theaters on March 12, Robert plays Tyler, who has issues with his dad (Pierce Brosnan, yum x2). But life gets a bit better when he meets Ally (Emilie de Ravin). As I’m sure fans will remember, the cast was in N.Y.C. last year filming with plenty of on-lookers and paparazzi capturing the outdoor scenes. Verdict is still out on whether or not I will highly recommend this movie, or say go see it solely to watch RPatz for two hours – so stay tuned for a pre-March 12th review and recommendation. Until then, here is the trailer and some photos from the movie.

Robert Pattinson in Remember Me
Monday, January 11th, 2010My Avatar Experience
Friday, January 8th, 2010Why I would have liked this movie better if it came out July 4th
DISCLAIMER: I am not a professional movie critic. I don’t expect everyone to agree with my thoughts and I am sorry to anyone I offend with my opinion of the movie. I know how passionate people are about this film
When I first heard about Avatar a few months ago I didn’t think I would ever see the movie. For one, I am not a huge James Cameron fan (that’s right – didn’t LOVE Titanic). More importantly, I didn’t get a good sense of what the movie was about, and the title didn’t grab me.
Cut to the week Avatar opens in the theater and everyone I know is telling me what an amazing movie it is. Academy Award worthy! Such an interesting commentary on modern society! The CGI was truly amazing! After that, I figured I really had to see it. So I grabbed Meg and we bought tickets for New Years Eve. IMAX. 3-D. Done.
Let me preface this by saying that I haven’t seen a movie in 3-D since saw “Captain EO” when I was 9. So as Meg and I put on our very attractive 3D glasses (mine went OVER my regular glasses) I started to get nervous. My eyes were having a very hard time adjusting – I felt like I had to keep looking in different directions and couldn’t just relax. How will I survive 3 hours? 20 minutes later, my eyes adjusted and I was able to sit back and absorb the film. Yes – the CGI was pretty incredible. How they combined the graphics with the actors was fantastic! But the story? REALLY? Not only was his “social commentary” completely obvious and uninteresting, but I actually laughed out-loud at some of the absurd and poorly written lines (i.e., anything Colonel Quaritch said).
Don’t get me wrong – I enjoyed the movie (albeit a little long – although what movies aren’t too long these days?). But I liked Avatar like I liked Independence Day. It was a fun escapist movie that had some cool graphics and a thin plot. Oh yeah – Sam Worthington is very easy on the eyes.
Had this movie come out over the summer and was touted as a fantastic summer blockbuster I think I would have been pleasantly surprised! Sadly, the angling for award season left me, as Michael Kors would say, “underwhelmed.” It should win awards for film editing, visual effects and even sound editing! But best picture? I think not.
New Alice in Wonderland!
Wednesday, January 6th, 2010
If you’re as excited for Alice in Wonderland as I am, then here are two hot-off-the-presses items for you: a new photo of Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter and a new makeup palette from Urban Decay. The palette, which is very limited edition, is called the Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows, and includes 16 of the brands best-selling shades, 24/7 Eye Pencils and eye shadow Primer Potion. The palette comes in a pop-up box with a scene from Tim Burton’s film of Alice in the mushroom forest.
The movie hits theaters on March 5th and will also be in 3D (if you also saw Avatar, you know that this is cool, but my eyeballs hurt afterward). This will also be a huge launch for actress Mia Wasikowska, who plays 19-year-old Alice.
Sex and the City 2 Trailer
Wednesday, January 6th, 2010Somehow, after six seasons, countless repeat watches (on HBO, DVD, TNT) and a first movie, I still cannot get enough of the fabulous foursome that is Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte. In this installment the gals head to Morocco (which I think is an Ab Fab rip off — if you don’t know Absolutely Fabulous, you need to get your hands on this British comedy asap and you’ll see when the girls go to Marrakesh).
Second Chance Movies
Tuesday, January 5th, 2010
You know what I can’t get enough of, especially in the winter? Those satisfying escapist films when urbanite women head to the country for some simple living by the fire in their flannels. In turn, they find themselves, a more meaningful life, and usually a man who can chop wood with one hand. Everyone needs a place to escape, and in the dead of the winter, you want to close your eyes and transport yourself more than usual. If you don’t have the money to do it yourself, thank God for Netflix. Now that the streets are frozen in NYC, my mind wanders to Baby Boom (maybe the best movie ever?) in which Diane Keaton unexpectedly inherits a baby and is forced to leave her high-powered wall street job. With nowhere to go, she takes her severance and savings to the country– and it’s there she gets an amazing house, finds herself again, starts her own business, and falls in love with Sam Shephard– and she does it all in a very comfy looking, floor-length flannel nightgown.

Alice in Wonderland Trailer: Watch it Now!
Wednesday, December 16th, 2009Golden Globe Nominations and Predictions
Tuesday, December 15th, 2009Today the Golden Globe nominations were announced. The Hollywood Foreign Press picks the winners…except when I do, below:

Clooney and Farmiga in Up in the Air
Best Motion Picture – Drama
Avatar, The Hurt Locker, Inglorious Basterds, Precious, Up In The Air
These nominees are all over the place! Um, I’m going with Precious.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama
Emily Blunt (The Young Victoria), Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side), Helen Mirren (The Last Station), Carey Mulligan (An Education), Gabourey Sidibe (Precious)
If Carey Mulligan doesn’t get this, I’m turning off the TV.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama
Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart), George Clooney (Up In The Air), Colin Firth (A Single Man), Morgan Freeman (Invictus), Tobey Maguire (Brothers)
Interesting. I don’t know so I’m going with Colin Firth because I love him and it’s his first nomination.

Carey Mulligan in An Education
Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy
500 Days of Summer, The Hangover, It’s Complicated, Julie & Julia, Nine
Nine. (But I did adore Julie & Julia.) The Hangover? Seriously?
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy
Sandra Bullock (The Proposal), Marion Cotillard (Nine), Julia Roberts (Duplicity), Meryl Streep (It’s Complicated, Meryl Streep (Julie & Julia)
As much as I loooove Marion, I have to give it to Meryl for her portrayal of Julia Child.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy
Matt Damon (The Informant), Daniel Day Lewis (Nine), Robert Downey Jr. (Sherlock Holmes), Joseph Gordon Levitt (500 Days of Summer), Michael Stuhlbarg (A Serious Man)
Joseph is such a Hollywood Foreign Press choice. But I don’t think he’ll beat Daniel Day Lewis.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
Penelope Cruz (Nine), Vera Farmiga (Up In The Air), Anna Kendrick (Up In The Air), Mo’nique (Precious), Julianne Moore (A Single Man)
This might be the tightest competition with the most talent. Such a tough call! I think I’ll say Vera because she is long overdue for some more attention!
Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
Matt Damon (Invictus), Woody Harrelson (The Messenger), Christopher Plummer (The Last Station), Stanley Tucci (The Lovely Bones), Christoph Waltz (Inglorious Basterds)
The Foreign Press loves foreigners and newcomers. I say the Austrian Christoph.
Best Animated Feature Film
Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, Coraline, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Princess and the Frog, Up
Hmmm…let’s go with Up.

Cruz in Broken Embraces
Best Foreign Language Film
Baaria, Broken Embraces, The Maid, A Prophet, The White Ribbon
Broken Embraces, because it’s the only one I’ve seen and Pedro Almodovar will be there next to Penelope Cruz to accept for his film.
Best Director – Motion Picture
Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker), James Cameron (Avatar), Clint Eastwood (Invictus), Jason Reitman (Up In The Air), Quentin Tarantino (Inglorious Basterds)
Tough race. I feel like they’ll give it to Reitman.
Best Screenplay – Motion Picture
District 9, The Hurt Locker, Inglorious Basterds, It’s Complicated, Up in the Air
Call me crazy, but District 9 was a very thoughtful, interesting story.
Best Original Score – Motion Picture
Up, The Informant, Avatar, A Single Man, Where the Wild Things Are
Where the Wild Things Are had a phenomenal score.
Best Original Song – Motion Picture
Cinema Italiano (Nine), I See You (Avatar), I Want to Come Home (Everybody’s Fine), The Weary Kind (Crazy Heart), Winter (Brothers)
I’m giving this to Paul McCartney for I Want to Come Home
Best Television Series – Drama
Big Love, Dexter, House, Mad Men, True Blood
Apparently your show has to have two words or less to be a contender. These are all amazing shoes, but I give the nod to Mad Men, although I think it’ll be True Blood.
Best Performance by an Actress in a TV Series – Drama
Glenn Close (Damages), January Jones (Mad Men), Julianna Margulies (The Goode Wife), Anna Paquin (True Blood), Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer)
This one has Paquin written all over it.
Best Performance by an Actor in a TV Series – Drama
Simon Baker (The Mentalist), Michael C. Hall (Dexter), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Hugh Laurie (House), Bill Paxton (Big Love)
Such a great group of actors. I think it’s Simon’s year.
Best TV Series – Comedy or Musical
30 Rock, Entourage, Glee, Modern Family, The Office
It’s between Glee and Modern Family. I think Glee will take the prize.
Best Performance by an Actress in a TV Series – Comedy or Musical
Toni Colette (United States of Tara), Courteney Cox (Cougar Town), Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie), Tina Fey (30 Rock), Lea Michele (Glee)
The HFP loves Edie Falco, so she’s a good bet, but Toni’s phenomenal.
Best Performance by an Actor in a TV Series – Comedy or Musical
Alec Baldwin (30 Rock), Steve Carell (The Office), David Duchovny (Californication), Thomas Jane (Hung), Matthew Morrison (Glee)
I seriously hope Duchovny gets it. But it’ll likely go to Thomas Jane.
Best Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for TV
Georgia O’Keeffe, Grey Gardens, Into the Storm, Little Dorrit, Taking Chance
I’m going with Grey Gardens.
Best Peformance by an Actress in a Mini-series or Motion Picture Made for TV
Joan Allen (Goergia O’Keeffe), Drew Barrymore (Grey Gardens), Jessica Lange (Grey Gardens), Anna Paquin (The Courageous Heart of Irena), Sigourney Weaver (Prayers for Bobby)
Hmmm, close call but I say Jessica Lange.

Lange and Barrymore in Grey Gardens
Best Peformance by an Actor in a Mini-series or Motion Picture Made for TV
Kevin Bacon (Taking Chance), Kenneth Branagh (Wallander: One Step Behind), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Endgame), Brendan Gleeson (Into the Storm), Jeremy Irons (Georgia O’Keeffe)
Kevin Bacon was in A Few Good Men with Tom Cruise, who was in Valkyrie with Kenneth Branagh, who was in one Harry Potter movie with that whole cast, and Brendan Gleeson was in a few Harry movies also, as well as Gangs of New York with Liam Neeson, who was in Love Actually with Chiwetel Ejiofor. That leaves us with Jeremy Irons, who I believe will win.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for TV
Jane Adams (Hung), Rose Byrne (Damages), Jane Lynch (Glee), Janet McTeer (Into the Storm), Chloe Sevigny (Big Love)
Could this category be broader? I hope Jane Lynch clinches it.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for TV
Michael Emerson (Lost), Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother), William Hurt (Damages), John Lithgow (Dexter), Jeremy Piven (Entourage)
Maybe they’ll give it to Doogie? But William Hurt’s a pretty good bet.
One of the best things about the Globes is there isn’t a hokey host, but this year there is a host but luckily it’s Ricky Gervais, so that’s wonderful. The show airs on NBC on January 17th so you can see how many of these I get wrong.
Who do you think will win? Were there any blatant omissions? (Like Audrey Tautou in Coco Avant Chanel!) Let me know your picks!
Movie Review: Invictus
Thursday, December 10th, 2009By Jenna

Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela
I do have to say, even though I was around during the time the events in Invictus happened, I was off in my own world with my head in the clouds. Going into this movie, I’ll be honest; I thought it had something to do with soccer, which I was WRONG, it’s rugby. I had some knowledge of Nelson Mandela’s story but more knowledge of Matt Damon for sure. Lucky for me, I got to see the advanced screening of the heartfelt movie Invictus, and definitely got a better understanding of rugby and what Nelson Mandela did for his country.
Invictus, based on the book Playing the Enemy, by John Carlin and directed by Clint Eastwood tells the inspiring story of how newly elected President Nelson Mandela (Morgan Freeman) comes together with the captain of South Africa’s rugby team, Francois Pienaar (Matt Damon), to help bring unity to the country. The nation of South Africa remained racially and economically divided in the wake of apartheid at the time Nelson Mandela came into presidency. Believing he can bring the nation together, through sports, he rallies South Africa’s underdog ruby team and make a run to the 1995 World Cup Championship match.

Matt Damon as Francois Pienaar
At first it’s a little odd to hear Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon speak in a South African accent, but you get used to it and it’s actually really good and believable. When very well known actors can pull off accents it’s a huge plus. The entire movie is very moving especially the scene where they visit Nelson Mandela’s jail cell. The action of the rugby games are exciting and intense (Not to mention you get lots of hot men shirtless time). You’ll find yourself rooting for the underdog in this one and from A to Z, this movie is witty and truly inspirational. As an LA local, it’s hard to imagine any other places in the world and the country of South Africa is surreal but at the same time enchanting. (I’ve found myself trying to make plans to get to the world cup this next year) This movie is really a must see and the best part is, it’s perfect to bring family or friends. There’s more to it than just rugby, it gives us some insight on the life and challenges Nelson Mandela had to go through during that critical time. He’s a hero and role model to people all around the world and Invictus gives even more of a reason to adore him. Be prepared though, when you leave the movie, you’ll be searching for more and inspired to take on any challenge. This is a heart-warming, feel good flick.

Must See Movie: The Blind Side
Thursday, November 26th, 2009I think I’ve done it! I think I’ve found the perfect family movie that everyone will actually love and the timing couldn’t be more perfect since everyone has a long Thanksgiving weekend ahead of them. I was lucky enough to see an advance screening of The Blind Side, ya know, the football movie with Sandra Bullock? I’ll be honest, I was skeptical, I almost didn’t show up! I don’t know if it was all the Southern nuances that I miss from home since living in LA, but I truly enjoyed every moment in that theater.
The Blind Side, based on Michael Lewis’ 2006 book, The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game, is funny, hopeful and heart-warming film that follows the true story of Michael Oher, a young, homeless African-American boy who makes it out of the Memphis projects and into the first round draft of the 2009 NFL thanks to the white, upper-class Tuohy family.
The story is so remarkable—to see someone like Oher persevere and overcome so much adversity and to know this family dedicated themselves to making his life better, it’s truly remarkable. There were cheesy moments, but come on, it wouldn’t be the holidays without some cheese. And cheese that makes you laugh and cry in the same instant, well, that’s some good cheese! However, it reminds you that when you open up your heart amazing things can happen and at the very least, thankful.
This movie is perfect for everyone in the family—there is no bad language, but the dialogue is still sharp and witty; you’ll adore at least one of the characters if not all of them; and you will be laughing or smiling throughout the entire movie.

The Twilight: New Moon Premiere
Tuesday, November 17th, 2009 What can I say, to be on the red carpet of the New Moon premiere was pretty amazing. Some fans had camped out for five days, just to get a glimpse or autograph of one of the stars! Rather than re-hash the entire four-and-a-half hour red carpet extravaganza, I’ll give you a few highlights:
“You are all completely insane,” Robert Pattinson joked when asked what he thought about these hard-core fans who slept in tents on the sidewalks of Westwood, CA.
The stars’ arrivals were staggered, with Rob, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart arriving last, but each walking the red carpet separately. They posed for photographers, did radio and TV interviews, talked to print journalists and then signed dozens of autographs and took tons of photos with the screaming, hysterical fans.
