Justin Bieber Plagues Twitter

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

There has been this little thing plaguing our Twitter life for Blush. It’s like a scratch on the left lower corner of your sunglasses. It’s not going away and you’ve done a great job ignoring it without really acknowledging the problem. That scratch would be the adorable Justin Drew Beiber. For whatever reason, Justin Bieber is the trending topic EVERYDAY of EVERY MONTH this year on Twitter. Maybe I’m getting old, but I thought we were over these rapper infants after Aaron Carter. So, 3 year olds cry over him, he causes teen riots and tons of rappers love him so that gives him street cred?  Although it is impressive that he managed to self-teach himself how to play the piano, drums, trumpet and guitar at a young age, so I’ll give the little guy that. I’m still a little confused, after hearing soo much hype about him, I had never heard any of his music – weird, when someone is a megastar you don’t seem to miss their music.  One lovely day, on the radio I finally heard it. It was like a ghost train screeching to a halt. And I thought it was J.Lo singing. Can someone please explain this fascination? And why is every fetus in Hollywood now a child star?

Each generation has their child pop star idols, who was yours?

Gaga for MAC’s New Lipsticks

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

I love Lady Gaga…Everything from her crazy fashions to her music that plays on repeat on my iTunes before a night out. So imagine my excitement when I found out that MAC is bringing a little gaga to my life with their new Viva Glam Gaga lipstick in that perfect nude pink shade. But if 80s favorite Cyndi Lauper is a little more your style, then try the new Viva Glam Cyndi lipstick for the perfect 80s revival.  These new lipsticks are part of the “From Our Lips” campaign which donates 100% of the selling cost from Gaga and Cyndi to the MAC AIDS Fund.

MAC Cosmetics started their AIDS fund in 1994 to support men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS globally. So far, the fund has raised over $150 million in 67 different countries through the exclusive sale of VIVA GLAM Lipstick and Lipglass. So be one of the girls who just wants to have fun AND support an awesome cause.

Lover’s Quarrel

So I’m feeling a little conflicted. Part of me liked the movie Valentine’s Day while the other half didn’t—even with a celebrity studded cast. I understand that it is a romantic comedy and everything that goes with the territory, but the bad lines, weird cuts to shots of impertinent objects and a desperate Jessica Biel (no one that hot, smart and connected is single with no prospects) overshadowed the cute moments.

I actually thought the acting was great (expect for the little boy)! I took the bad script into consideration. My favorites were Anne Hathaway (amazing!) and Taylor Swift (cute!). Jennifer Garner had the main female role and she was adorable—her character seemed the most normal and relatable. And then we have Ashton Kutcher as the male lead playing a hopeless-romantic florist (shocking!). Case in point: when Garner’s character is debating whether to go surprise her man in San Francisco Kutcher enlightens her, “It’s Valentine’s Day, you don’t think, you just do!” I mean, REALLY? And no, I’m not some love scorned single—I have a very cute boyfriend. However, if you made me from one of the many sexy males stars to end up with at the end of the movie I’d choose Jamie Foxx and then Bradley Cooper (see the movie and you’ll know why he is my second choice).

I didn’t hate the movie, but I wouldn’t see it again and I don’t think you would be throwing away your money if you saw it, unless you took your beau, then I guess you would just be throwing away his money because he definitely won’t like it—use personal discretion on that one.

Basically, this is what you should expect: some smiles, some uncomfortably bad scenes and a little sweetness.

Getting Glammy at the Grammys

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010
By Jenna

The life of a celebrity is good. Especially when you get to not only go to the Grammys and see it live, but you can come to the style suite beforehand and get pampered. What is the styling suite? The suite is there for the talent and attendees of the Grammys to come and pick up designer clothes, gorgeous jewelry, shoes, and accessories to wear to the show. The pampering continues with expensive champagne, martinis, cocktails and getting your hair and makeup done by the pros.

I was lucky enough to enjoy this lavish suite and get my makeup done by the fabulous MAKE UP FOR EVER team before a night out. By the way, if you have never gotten your makeup done, and don’t consider that pampering, STOP, drop and roll over to your local mall or spa, get your face put on and experience the exquisiteness. MUFE’s makeup team houses makeup professionals that have a range of celebrity clientele and expertise. This year MUFE celebrates 25 years of exciting and groundbreaking makeup. My makeup artist for the day was Mr. -I’m so fucking fabulous… What?- David Hernandez. With 17 years of experience and a celebrity clientele ranging from the girls of Silversun Pickups, India Arie to Pamela Anderson, he’s truly a makeup genius in his own and will provide a great time as an added extra.

Also lending their brand expertise to the new movie starring Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart, The Runaways, they’ve made the young starlets into replicas of Joan Jett and Cherie Curie. In genuine excitement of the movie release, I asked David to give me a Dakota Fanning rocker chic look. Using an electric blue for a smokey eye, recreating the look for him was a snap. He started with eyebrows as they are very important to a look, the best way of creating a good brow is starting out with a good shape and contouring them with shadows and pencils. Don’t be afraid to try different things, a strong brow can be gorgeous with the right look as can a soft one. Aqua Eyes eyeliner and mascara accompanied by lavish lashes by MUFE, and a hot red lip completed the look. If there’s one thing I learned from this makeup adventure, it was have patience with using fake lashes. David’s tips: “Have PATIENCE!!! If you don’t have patience with lashes you’re going to frustrate yourself and ruin the lashes. If you don’t’ have patience for it then don’t put them on. Start with putting down the middle of the lash as close to the lash line as possible and work your way pressing out.” The trend to look forward to this year: colorful lips and colorful smokey eyes. To have makeup done by such an amazing professional is quite the dream but the look was yet to be complete.

Making our way over to hair, Raina from Cutler Salon was ready to style. Cutler Salon is a leading salon in New York, has amazing  hair cuts and an emphasis on training programs and education in the industry. Using a curling iron, hair spray and not too much conditioner was required to get the feathery rocker hair style. After curling, roughing it up is key.

Tada! Look completed and very Cherie Curie. Hat’s off to my fabulous makeup artist and hairstylist. Leaving the suite and luxury is definitely a hard thing after such a pampering day.

While at the suite, celebs that stopped by were: Sean Paul, Zac Brown Band and the gorgeous India Arie. (She’s a huge fan of MAKE UP FOR EVER as well.) Her favorite product she uses is the HD Foundation. Beautiful!

Hot or Not? Grammy’s Friends and Family Party Breakdown

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010
By Jenna

Oh the Grammys. The extravagant, exciting, electric Grammys are in town and what that means is time to party. As the music industry’s Oscars, this star studded event is nothing to take lightly, especially the nights of debauchery that go along with it. Grammy weekend is a huge weekend not just for the music industry, but for fashion, and beauty. Celebrities and people alike fly in to Los Angeles from all over the world for this exciting show and the week before is full of pre-Grammy events. Attending the 13th anniversary of the Friends and Family Grammy event at Paramount Studios, we got just a taste of what was to come for Grammy weekend.

Entering into Stage 18 at Paramount, tons of people rushed in for appetizers and drinks surrounded by an ambiance of flashing lights, LA city projections on the walls, playable The SIMS 3 station, photo booths, dazzling outfits and the who’s who of the music industry. Definitely a great way to start off the weekend. With performances by Kevin Rudolf, the fabulous Estelle, Jay Sean, Kevin Rudolf, Mayer Hawthorne, Theophilus London, with DJ sets by: ATRAK, Junkie XL, Benny Blanco, and Classixx, attendees were in a trance by the end of the evening.

Katy Perry arrived without her soon to be husband Russell Brand (who arrived later in the night), looking absolutely stunning as always. What makes her blush? You don’t even want to know (wink). Hot. George Clinton rocked the red carpet with hair reminiscent of Christmas. Silver was the metallic of the night.  Estelle wore a chic high waisted belt with a glimmering silver long sleeve top, as some others didn’t quite get the metallic trend right. If there’s one thing to be learned, it was about funky fashion. Just a little tip to the Hollywood wanna be up and coming: Don’t channel your inner tin man or copycat Lady Gaga, there are tons of other trends that’ll have you stand out and not make you look like a jack. Here’s a few silver “DON’TS” that were quite amusing and almost night ruining. Icky. Not Hot.

Actress Lolene butchering our beloved Lady Gaga:

And Bonnie McKee parading around as the Tin Man. Not Hot

Other Marvelous celebrities who attended: Carolina Liar, English musician Dhani Harrison, Cory Feldman and his bimbo, Fefe Dobson, Quinton Aaron from Blindside, Howie Dorough, The Stunners, and Jurnee Smollett.

Ladies Night at the 2010 Grammys

Monday, February 1st, 2010

Pink lead the pack last night with her aerial performance of  “Glitter in the Air.” I mean, we were in tears. It was GORGEOUS. Do you want to run off and join Cirque du Soleil today or what? We do. Beyonce‘s “If I Were a Boy/ You Oughta Know” mash was so strong (and, ok… fierce) and Lady Gaga’s medley (“Poker Face/ Speechless/ Your Song”) with Elton was a classic. Did you watch? We think Taylor’s gonna lose her humility if she keeps winning big so young, and we thought her performance with Stevie Nicks was off tune and ruined a classic Fleetwood Mac jam in the process. Are we being too harsh? What’d you think? (more…)

Weekend Update: Silly Gossip

not dead

Just as Brad and Angelina are by most accounts, still totally together and fine and moving on with their perfect lives, Johnny Depp is not dead either people (that’s a FAKE CNN page). But what a crazy weekend for gossip! While we’re not feeling some overwhelming sense of relief that Brad and Angie are still Brangelina, we’re happy to hear Johnny Depp is alive and well and probably swilling red wine in the south of France with his long-time love, Vanessa Paradis.  By the way, this stab at a celeb death hoax brought us back to when everyone tried to break our 13 year old hearts by saying Zach Morris was dead. Not buying it! Didn’t enough celebs die in ’09? Who needs a death hoax!

Brad and Angelina Break Up?

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

Happier Days?

Do you guys believe the rumors swirling today, that Brad and Angelina have decided to separate? Allegedly, they’ve signed separation papers with a divorce lawyer, and apparently the “documents” state they”ll share joint custody of the children — all 6 — but they’ll live with their mother full time.  Maybe this is why Brad was a no-show at the SAG awards last night, and why Angelina didn’t accompany Brad to the “Hope for Haiti Now” benefit? During Golden Globes weekend, Angelina and Brad (noticeably absent from the awards) spent their time in separate parts of the country, Brad with Maddox in New Orleans, and Angelina was in LA with her daughters.

Do you think Jennifer Aniston is popping champagne right now?

At this point, it’s all conjecture, and we’ve heard these rumors (though not so detailed) before. Besides, the couple was spotted together all of December. So consider us cynical! Stay tuned…
