So, news broke today that this season of American Idol will be Simon Cowell’s last. (He’s leaving to focus his energy on launching his American version of British competition show The X Factor.) Call me old fashioned, but I liked my Idol old school, served straight up with acid-tongued Simon and a side of Painkiller Paula. Sure I like Ellen, but I don’t see myself tuning in just for her– I’m gonna need a replacement for Simon’s cold, acerbic, but mostly true comments. Let’s just say I think the program should be worried. Will you tune in without Simon?
Meanwhile, TMZ says that “Ellen is trying not to take it personally,” and Simon might be looking to nab ex- Idol partner Paula Abdul for “X Factor.”
In other big beloved show news, Friday Night Lights’ Taylor Kitsch, who plays the hottest bad boy in Texas –Tim Riggins– is leaving the show. At least, he’s leaving as a series regular because he wants to film the sci fi movie John Carter of Mars. Sorry, but he is the main reason I, and so many of my girl friends tune in. To be fair, a lot of women love Kyle Chandler as Coach Taylor, but my bet, sadly, is that when Tim Riggins departs, so, soon after, will the show.

I’m not surprised. Simon had to leave eventually. He has his hands in so many projects and AI is quite time consuming.
Confession: I didn’t watch the last season. I just couldn’t get into it. Not sure why. There are just so many entertainment shows on now.
