The Valentine’s Day Luca Luca show in Bryant Park offered a breath of fresh air during the fury (and snow flurries) of fashion week. Celebs on hand at the morning event were socialite Tinsley Mortimer, her paramour Constance Maroulis, NYC Real Housewife Kelly Bensimon, and our favorite, Alison Brie, previously of Mad Men and currently of the cult comedy Community.
The collection, which could be described as rock n roll with a ladylike edge, showcased a slew of gorgeous metallic designs and seriously flirty cocktail dresses. Since fans of the line include Halle Berry, the Hilton sisters, and Anne Hathaway, it’s no surprise that Senior Designer Raul Melgoza doesn’t shy away from a sexy silhouette in a fabulous fabric. For his Fall 2010 collection, Raul served up the glittery goods.
Our favorite number was the sequined golden dress with the keyhole neckline and serious swagger. We loved it so much that even though our Grammy invite got lost in the mail (this dress was made to cut a sleek figure at that award show) we’d still wear this hot number to bed, to breakfast, and everything after that.
We also loved the elegant white blouse paired with the sharp black leather skirt, a take-no-prisoners in the bar or the boardroom look.
The gray cocktail shift with a peek of leather on the left shoulder was a hit, as did a swinging blue short dress.
We also coveted the fifties-esque soft black blouse and painted print, vertical pleated skirt. Although the outfit would certainly catch a Mad Man’s eye, the hiked hemline makes it very NOW.
