My Bridal Hairstyles – Ripped from the Red Carpet

I always prefer to wear my hair down.  For some reason, I feel self-conscious in a ponytail (although it’s an inevitable hairstyle at least once a week).  Since my hair is so long, I probably have some feeling of protection when I wear it down – whether it’s straight or curly.

I had envisioned my wedding style to be flowy dress with flowy hair.  Then I tried on THE dress.  Without getting into details, I will say it is definitely not flowy – and the back?!  Well, I can’t really wear my hair down with this dress.

Since “updos” aren’t my typical style, I have been looking to the recent red carpet styles to try and find a look that suits me.  Below are some of my faves – which one do you like best?  And if you think I missed one – please let me know!  I need some help!

Sandra Bullock’s dress at the 2010 Golden Globes got mixed reviews from the critics – but I love how soft her hair looks.  It’s not overly worked and still has enough movement so I won’t feel to bare without my hair down.

Anna Kendrick is a break-through beauty since her role in “Up in the Air”.  I happen to really like the dress she wore to the globes – but her hair is what really caught my eye.  (notice a pattern?)

I haven’t watched “The Hills” in several seasons so it’s not like Kristin Cavallari is on my radar regularly – however, her hair looks pretty spectacular here at the “When in Rome” premiere.

I have always loved Debra Messing – and I always love her style.  Her hair at the 2009 Emmy’s looked chic and polished.  Would it work for me?

This is a great blog. Post more cant wait to keep reading

I agree. Your face shape and hair would look great with Debra’s up do.

I love the Sandra Bullock do! It’s up but also flows which is a nice touch, then again I would have to see your dress.

But no matter what you will be stunning!

Well I’m going to have to say Kristin Cavallari. I think you pull of the pony tail look great and her do is similar with all her hair pulled back. Don’t hide your beautiful face behind those gorgeous locks!

I think the Debra Messing look would be gorgeous! The Anna Kendrick style seems like one of those that would start off pretty, but just end up looking limp by the end of the night!

I’m leaning toward Debra Messing’s. I love Kristin Cavallari’s but i think it is a little too “done”. I like the face framing piece in Debra’s updo…but I think your veil will play a very integral part in this process. Kim, if you would like us to make an informed decision, we need all the facts! :)

    Very Nice article.

Oh also, liking your blog design. I had a similar blog to yours before I sold it on at the end of 2009.

I have to say that I really like both Kristen Cavallari’s and Sandra Bullocks hair style. It is hard to say without seeing the wedding gown, but if you want people to see your back and you have nice shoulder’s, I would definitely go with Kristen’s updo for your big day.
