We’re still liking this show a lot– so much that we’re now saluting it with official recap status.
The Baze / Cate chemistry is starting to bubble to the surface and become un-ignorable, and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Adding to Cate’s frustration and misery, last night we were gifted with a shirtlesss Baze. You could tune in for that alone. When Cate walked in, then promptly out, on her baby daddy making out with her boss on his pool table, he rushed out to catch her– because making her feel better was more important than attending to the situation on the pool table. Read into that Cate! He loves you too. She was so confused she had tears in her eyes while she was yelling at him. (Shiri Appleby does teary-eyes really well, and it’s infectious. Suddenly we’re crying, but then we’re like, wait, what are we crying about Shiri? Oh right, we’re in love with Baze but we’re engaged to Ryan).
Cate still hasn’t told Ryan about her second one night stand with Baze, and all the secrecy and drama is pushing her over the edge. On the other hand, Lux is dealing with losing her boyfriend Bug (steamy, afflicted Rafi Gavron) as she adapts to her new safe, homey, life. He can’t accept the changes, or her budding friendship with affable, highschool-hot quarterback Jones (cutie Austin Butler). In the mother/daughter parallel storyline, when Cate tells Lux she needs to be honest with Bug, she does, but Bug can’t handle it so he splits town. Cate tells her those are the risks we’ve got to take in life, but she can’t seem to take her own advice. Cate would rather have her cake (Baze) and eat it too, but we all know that can’t and doesn’t last.
OK, we’re hooked. Will Cate and Baze sleep together again? Will Ryan find out? Will Bug come back? Will ex-foster child Lux date QB Jones?
Do you watch? It’s definitely an unexpected, welcome surprise in a TV land riddled with doctors, lawyers, and cops. On that note, we’re looking forward to more family drama with Parenthood, comingĀ to NBC on March 2nd.

I took am hooked. And I really enjoyed an episode where Lux didn’t do something completely ridiculous and inconsiderate and then have the audacity to react shocked when things fall apart around her. Oh wait…

AHAHAHHAHAH. If I get a kid like Lux… I’ll keep that to myself. Notice I focus mostly on Baze/Cate. Her lil 16 year old attitude is A LOT to handle!
ok wait i’ve never seen this show but do they think they can really get away with names like Lux and Baze and Bug?? they sound like transformers to me.
BAH-HAHAHAHAHA. A lot of things about this show border on a little too trendy/cute/twee. Hipster Transformers. You’re on to something!
