Blush is reeling from the news of the demise of two golden Hollywood marriages– those of Kate Winslet (last year’s Oscar winner for The Reader) and Sandy Bullock (this year’s winner for The Blind Side). Do you believe in the Oscar Curse? In these particular cases, we don’t– we blame it on the roaming eye curse– both Sam and Jesse are accused of straying from the marriage– James with a tattoo model named Michelle “Bombshell” McGee, and Sam with 27 -year-old actress Rebecca Hall.
We should note: is Jesse James ready to be the Most Hated Man in America? Sandy has definitely taken the title of America’s Sweetheart from Julia Roberts, and everyone has her back. Good luck going to the grocery store, JJ.
Back to that “Oscar Curse”– it is an interesting theory (and we’re all for theories). If you haven’t heard it yet, we’ll break it down for you:
Winslet’s marriage fell apart less than a year after her Oscar win.
Sandy’s right after her Oscar win.
Six months after Reese won for Walk The Line, she discovered Ryan Phillipe’s text messages with Abbie Cornish.
Double Oscar winner Hillary Swank and Chad Lowe split a year after her win for Million Dollar Baby.
Halle Berry and Eric Benet split a year after winning a Best Supporting Actress award for Monster’s Ball. (Good riddance! He was a “sex addict.” Forget it!)
Helen Hunt and husband Hank Azaria split months after she won for As Good As It Gets.
Angelina Jolie and Johnny Lee Miller broke up the same year she won for Girl, Interrupted.
Emma Thompson broke up with Kenneth Branagh shortly after her win.
Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin’s marriage died after she won for LA Confidential.
Like our girlfriend said when we were talking about “the curse”– can anyone really have it all? Sad day for love!

i’m still hopeful it’s not true. say it’s not true! she was so public in her adoration of him over this whole awards ceremony. it’s just too sad.

i’m devastated. even though sandy was always too good for him. she must really regret her last over the top acceptance speech 3/4 of which was spent thanking/adoring him.. re: kate… this is two now. not a lot for hollywd but we hold her to higher standards

i believe in a “curse” in that men can’t handle women who are more successful than them. also, never date anyone in the film industry unless you enjoy being cheated on — that’s life 101!

I’m quite disappointed on how this scandal broke so soon after the big Oscar win. From such a high to such a low so quickly.
