100 pairs of heels, but we go One Day Without Shoes

Remember how glorious it felt to run around barefoot as a child? The feel of cool sand between your toes, the refreshing sensation of dewy grass underfoot… it was all so liberating. That is until a rock or splinter decided to ruin all the fun.

Now, imagine one day your shoe closet is empty, your house made of scrap metal and the ground outside littered with rocks, debris and just waiting to spread disease. Picture your disappointment as your child is turned away from school because you cant afford simple footwear. This is the reality for millions of men, women and children around the world. Here at ShoeFabulous we are in the business of keeping the stylish among us well heeled, but also well informed about how they can improve the world around them.  So the girls and I participated with TOMS shoes in an event called One Day Without Shoes.

What is that you may ask? Well TOMS asked people from around the world to skip the shoe closet on April 8th 2010, and go about their normal business barefoot, to help bring awareness to the plight of millions. On the One Day Without Shoes website you can watch as some kids try to skateboard barefoot, another man makes his entire family do chores barefoot, and business bankers hold meetings sans Ferragamos.  At ShoeFabulous we sacrificed our pedicures, and in one case our nylons, as we went a whole day  “nu-pieds.” And we made a video to prove it!

Check out the video here…
